Tourism and Authenticity: Analyzing Retail Change in Lisbon City Center

Retail is one of the defining elements urban spaces. The study commerce largely based on its evolution and how it relates with environments. Currently, advent mass tourism, there has been an adjustment in commercial fabric area’s most sought after by tourists. Among these latter areas, historical centers stand out. first objective this research to analyze modern Lisbon comparing city center rest city. For goal, I use a quantitative approach through quotient location for specific retail typologies. results show dissimilarities that are associated geographical retail, which vary according different typologies being analyzed. second goal assumption mere analysis limited context tourist cities. Considering matter, qualitative method (photo analysis, conceptually supported concept authenticity) used. usefulness authenticity apprehend discuss reacting tourism industry, thereby contributing transformation into leisure entertainment destination.
